Polar Olympiads History Museum

Museum of the History of Polar Olympics opened in 1986 on the basis of the exhibition dedicated to the 50th Festival of the North. Founder of the museum – the Committee for Physical Culture and Sports of the Murmansk Oblast Executive Committee (presents t Sherstuk Vitaly Pavlovich.). It is the only one in the Murmansk region Sports Museum. Its exposition tells about the first Festival of the North (1934), the development of the sports movement in the region in the coming years, international competitions (since 1970) as part of the Polar Olympics. The museum is the center of physical culture and sports promotion in the Arctic. Every year, organized a meeting of veterans of the sport with young people, with the media, held awarding the winners of sporting events of the city, photojournalists and sports commentators. The museum presents a collection of ski sports (s.XIX – {{cc.), Badges and medals, devoted to the holiday of the North; personal belongings of prize-winners.
