The main scientific focus on cod, haddock, capelin, herring, Greenland halibut, Kamchatka crab Barents Sea population, sёmge. The area of responsibility of the Institute – the Kara, Barents, White, Norwegian, Greenland Sea, the water of the Northwest Atlantic, as well as freshwater ponds Murmansk and Arkhangelsk regions, the Komi Republic, Nenets Autonomous District.
